walking for water

I wish to question the real value of our comfort in the northern hemisphere. It is not the limousine, or villa, that i consider luxury. It is the fact, that in every moment of the day, we have an approach to clean, usually drinkable water, sanitation, electricity and heating. Imagine to spend every day more than an hour to walk through the countryside to get a fresh water for you and your family. As unreal it would be for us, this is a reality for many families in countries in development. I tried to create an installation, that allows people to imagine this situation through the physical experience. The installation consists from closed water circuit and 8 mm film projector. By throwing a bucket of water into the opening next to the projector you activate the electric circuit, that will start the projection of a man in africa, walking with the bucket of water through the landscape. The projection works just in the short moment of physical movement activated by water. It will take several buckets of water transported from point A to point B, to see whole film projection and to complete the story.
